Job Description

Thesis Subject

Medical diagnostic tools based on molecularly imprinted polymers used as synthetic antibodies for the multiplexed detection of biomarkers

Your Work Environment

Research project funded by ANR
The CNRS Laboratory of Enzymatic and Cellular Engineering is located at the University of Technology of Compiègne (UTC). UTC is one of France's most prestigious engineering schools, with a strong focus on applied research and close ties to industry.

The CNRS Laboratory is part of UTC's Department of Biological Engineering. It comprises around sixty researchers dedicated to developments based on the general principles of bioresources, bio-inspiration, and biomimicry. This work has notably led to the development of functional nanomaterials, biosensors, bioactive molecules and materials, and more, with applications in agriculture, the food industry, cosmetics, and the biomedical field. Professor Karsten Haupt oversees research activities aimed at developing biomimetic nanostructures, including the creation of fully synthetic biomimetic receptors through polymer molecular imprinting. The laboratory also possesses expertise in selecting aptamers, peptides, and ScFv from compound libraries as affinity ligands for molecular recognition-based applications (including the in silico evolution of aptamers and peptides using bioinformatics tools, thus eliminating the need for experimental screening), and in combining these receptors with functional materials for enhanced properties. The study of antibody and antibody analog interactions with cells and tissues, as well as their use in bioassays and biodetection, for drug delivery and processing in various application areas, are among the laboratory's main research areas.

All necessary equipment is available for the synthesis/preparation, physicochemical, biochemical, and nanometric characterization, as well as the observation of synthetic and natural molecules, macromolecules, and materials:
Chemical synthesis and polymer synthesis, synthesis and transformation of organic compounds, polymer synthesis, creation, manipulation, and observation of nanomaterials and polymer nanocomposites, chemical analysis, and analysis of molecular interactions.
