Job Description

Thesis Subject

The objective of this thesis will be to study the spatial organization of digital synthetic polymers, which are macromolecules allowing the storage of binary information. In order to find solutions for big data storage, the recruited person will study the automated parallel synthesis of digital polymers. The polymers formed will be characterized by HPLC, GPC, NMR and MS. The 2D and 3D organization of these polymers will also be part of the objectives of the thesis.

Your Work Environment

This recruitment will take place within the framework of the PEPR moleculArXiv, the objective of which is to prepare macromolecules containing digital information. The recruited person will join the Laboratory of Chemistry of Informational Macromolecules (LCMI) of the Institute of Supramolecular Science and Engineering (ISIS). The LCMI is one of the 8 senior research teams of ISIS and includes around fifteen members. The thesis will be supervised by Jean-François Lutz who is the team leader and will be attached to the doctoral school of chemical sciences (EDSC) of the University of Strasbourg.

Expected skills:
- Theoretical and practical skills in organic chemistry
- Theoretical knowledge in polymer chemistry
- Knowledge of the chemical synthesis of DNA (optional)
- Mastery of the usual techniques of molecular characterization (NMR, UV, IRTF, MS) - English level C2
- Writing of scientific reports in French and English
- Ability to work in a team, autonomy
