Job Description
Thesis Subject
This PhD project aims at exploring, exploiting and engineering the electronic band structures of moiré and light-driven quantum materials using high-resolution and time-resolved angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy with symmetry-tailored ultrafast laser pulses. It will focus on twisted transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs) heterostructures hosting moiré and Floquet-Bloch-induced correlated and topological electronic phases.
Your Work Environment
The PhD thesis will be conducted both at the Institut de Physique de Rennes (IPR) in the Matériaux-Nanosciences Department (DMN) and at the Centre Lasers Intenses et Applications (CELIA) of Bordeaux in the HXUV team. The laboratories offer interdisciplinary environments with strong expertise in condensed matter and solid-state physics, two-dimensional materials, topological and correlated electronic phases, and advanced characterization techniques. The candidate will take profit from unique complementary ARPES facilities giving access to both high-energy and time resolutions of the quantum/topological properties of the electronic structures.
