Description of the thesis topic

The aim is to develop new chiral catalysts based on transition metals and possessing an N-heterocyclic carbene ligand (NHC) containing axial chirality. In an original and unique way, the complexes will be prepared from achiral precursors. The complexes will therefore be obtained in an enantiomerically pure manner after a step of separation by chiral HPLC on the preparative scale. The design of the structures of the NHCs will be carried out thanks to DFT calculations carried out a priori. New chiral catalysts will be studied in new enantioselective transformations.

Additional Information

Graduated from a Master 2 Research, the candidate must be serious, rigorous, dynamic and motivated to carry out this research project. He (she) must have a solid experience in organic synthesis as well as proven skills in analytical methods (NMR, MS, GC, HPLC, DSC) as well as in scientific writing (reports, articles, etc.). The candidate must be able to work in a team and communicate their results. A good command of English is essential (level B2).
