Description du sujet de thèse

The PhD thesis is part of the ANR PRME ECHO-Mix project, which aims to develop new conductive polymers for electrochemical energy storage. The PhD candidate will be responsible for the synthesis and characterization of the polymers, as well as their evaluation for application in organic batteries. The main responsibilities of the candidate will include:
• Synthesizing aromatic monomers considered as building blocks for the polymers
• Preparing the polymers via chemical or electrochemical methods
• Characterizing the monomers and polymers
• Preparing electrodes, assembling and testing storage devices
• Communicating progress through monthly meetings
The candidate must hold a Master's degree in organic chemistry and have experience in the synthesis and characterization of π-conjugated systems (NMR, mass spectrometry, absorption and emission spectroscopies).
Knowledge of electrochemistry would be appreciated.
Strong ability to communicate scientific results in English, both orally and in writing, is required.

Contexte de travail

The thesis work will be carried out at the University of Angers (France) as part of the ANR project ECHO-Mix (“Mixed ion-electron-conducting polymers of intrinsic porosity and chemistry for battery applications”). ECHO-Mix is a single-team ANR project involving all members of the ECHO team, which is part of the MOLTECH-Anjou laboratory.
The MOLTECH-Anjou laboratory is a Joint Research Unit (UMR 6200) between CNRS and the University of Angers, located at the Faculty of Sciences, 2 Bd Lavoisier 49045 ANGERS Cedex, France. It brings together the expertise of 85 members, including nearly 50 CNRS researchers, university faculty members, engineers and technical staff, along with around 30 PhD students and postdoctoral researchers.
The scientific activity of MOLTECH-Anjou focuses on the development of organic or hybrid organic-inorganic molecular materials, supporting high-profile research areas such as organic electronics, stimuli-responsive materials, nanostructuring, and energy-related materials. Six research teams combine their expertise (theoretical chemistry and modeling, organic, inorganic, coordination and supramolecular synthesis, physical and analytical chemistry, materials development) and photonics. Five of these teams are affiliated with the CNRS National Institute of Chemistry, and the sixth with the CNRS National Institute of Physics.
