Job Description
Thesis Subject
this interdisciplinary doctoral project aims to conduct a cross-analysis of technological innovations in the field of mobility in order to identify innovative solutions capable of improving accessibility in certain areas, and to assess the robustness and ecological and economic viability of these solutions.
Your Work Environment
This thesis will therefore include a computer science component exploring various energy-efficient technological innovations. These innovative solutions should integrate a complete and self-sustaining chain involving smartphone applications, a server responsible for processing requests and data, and secure communication methods including wireless and wired systems. During the doctoral research, a model of these solutions will be developed, incorporating the constraints associated with each element of the chain. These technological solutions will be studied through various use cases, identified in partnership with one or two local authorities in the Clermont-Ferrand metropolitan area, with a particular focus on the role of multimodality.
In parallel with this work, the doctoral candidate will conduct a preliminary study of existing practices for each use case in order to assess the added value of the proposed solutions. This localized analysis will take the form of an analysis of the economic drivers of mobility, as well as a model of existing mobility systems. Echoing the innovative solutions likely to be proposed within the IT component, new mobility models will be explored through the design of a systems dynamics model, enabling the development of transition scenarios towards sustainable mobility systems for the local authorities involved in the project.
Within this socio-economic approach, an analysis of public policies in the field of mobility may also be conducted. This study will examine, in particular, the mechanisms that facilitate, or hinder, the dissemination of the planned technological innovations (coordination of responsible stakeholders, proposed travel guidelines in local public policy documents, financial support for innovation, etc.). Finally, users/residents of the studied areas may also be interviewed, especially to understand the mechanisms of dissemination and adoption of these technological innovations.
