Job Description
Thesis Subject
The candidate will work on a project co-funded by the Agence Nationale de la Recherche (ANR) and Austrian Science Fund (FWF). The project examines the role of the cerebellum in speech processing, a research question that is rapidly gaining in importance. The project is centred on the hypothesis that the cerebellum conveys predictions about upcoming speech sounds to the neocortex. To test this hypothesis, the candidate will apply methods that include magnetoencephalography (MEG), brain stimulation, neurofeedback, and computational modelling. The project includes a collaboration with the Universities of Salzburg and Maastricht. One position includes an additional computational component, and the other a focus on transcranial brain stimulation.
Your Work Environment
The CerCo is an exceptionally interdisciplinary research centre that produces cutting-edge research in cognitive neuroscience. Many foreign students and researchers work there, and it is not mandatory to speak French. Toulouse is France's second largest university centre (after Paris). It has a high quality of life, located in south-western France (close to the Pyrenees, the Mediterranean Sea and the Spanish border).
