Description of the thesis topic
The project aims to the development of a meta-array constituted from plasmonic gold nanoparticles in the shape of tetrapods trapped in a multi-trap optical trap. The array will this be substrate-less and active through the modification of the exact properties of the trapping operation. The work will entail the synthesis, characterization and modelization of the tetrapods and then their second harmonic generation study before their introduction into the optical trap to constitute the meta-array. The latter array will build a unique second harmonic generation response from the exact arrangement of the array. The active behavior of the array will be adequate for operation in communication and cryptography applications.
Work Context
The person recruited will join the research team Nonlinear Optics and Interfaces at the Institut Lumière Matière (ILM, UMR5306 Université Lyon 1 - CNRS), a team of about ten people coordinated by Pierre-François Brevet and Emmanuel Benichou.
The work will be conducted on the La Doua Villeurbanne Campus. The ONLI team developing a research centered on nonlinear optics and frequency doubling in particular for fundamental and applied studies of solid (nanoparticules, powders colloidal suspensions, ...) and liquid (molecules, liquids and their interfaces, ...) systems at the nanometer scale. The work will be performed under the supervision of Pierre-François Brevet (Professor) in collaboration with the Laboratoire de Physique des Solides (LPS, Paris-Saclay) and the Institut Charles Sadron (ICS, Strasbourg).
