Job Description
Thesis Subject
This thesis concerns the development of experimental techniques for studying complex molecules using ultrashort light pulses. The developed technique utilizes state-of-the-art attosecond light sources coupled with mass spectrometry and photoelectron spectroscopy techniques. The candidate will be responsible for developing this new instrument and demonstrating its performance on molecular systems ranging from organic molecules to proteins.
Your Work Environment
The Institute of Light and Matter (iLM) is a CNRS-University Lyon 1 research unit located on the Lyon Tech La Doua campus. With over 300 staff members, including around 100 doctoral and postdoctoral researchers, iLM is a major player in physics and chemistry research in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, internationally recognized for its research excellence. The DYNAMO team is internationally renowned, particularly for its work in ultrafast physics and especially in molecular attophysics. iLM's X-2M facility is part of the national PEPR LUMA-ULTRAFAST platform. It develops state-of-the-art methods, which are made available to users. As part of this thesis, a new instrument, unique in the world, will be developed that will enable the study of light-molecule interaction using attosecond temporal resolution.
Constraints and risks
The risks are those associated with the use of pulsed lasers and the use of standard high voltages.
