Job Description
Thesis Subject
This PhD project is part of a multidisciplinary research program dedicated to the development of gold microstructures fabricated by two-photon laser microfabrication for applications in electrochemical sensing and plasmonic devices. The PhD research aims to elucidate the photoreaction mechanisms leading to the formation of gold nanoparticles from novel resins specifically designed for two-photon laser microfabrication. The PhD candidate will develop a multimodal, multiscale characterization approach to establish relationships between the local structure of gold nanoparticles and the functional properties of the printed materials. The work will combine advanced nanoscale microscopy and spectroscopy techniques (AFM, AFM-IR, c-AFM, KPFM, and local electrochemistry) with measurements performed at the micro- and macroscopic scales. The objective will be to identify the influence of parameters such as nanoparticle size, interparticle spacing, and the presence of organic residues on the electrical conductivity, electroactivity, and plasmonic performance of the printed structures. The knowledge gained will contribute to the optimization of fabrication processes through close collaboration with experts in microfabrication, advanced spectroscopy, and materials chemistry.
Your Work Environment
The PhD work will be carried out in the scope of a funded project (ANR GOLDEN) stemming from a collaboration between the Institut de Sciences Analytiques and the Laboratoire de Chimie de l'Ecole Normale Supérieure (ENS) de Lyon, under the supersivion of Dr. Laurène Tétard and of Dr. Florence Lagarde. State-of-the-art equipment required to carry out the work are available at the institutions, including multimodal atomic force microscopy platforms and equipment for electrical measurements
