Description of the thesis topic

The thesis subject concerns the discovery of selective and stable catalysts in aqueous media without the use of noble metals.
The objectives are to design and understand the mechanisms of SOLID superhydrophobic catalysts in multiphase processes.

The role of the superhydrophobic catalyst support is to 1) prevent water from accessing the catalytic sites and 2) allow overconcentration of the substrates at the catalytic sites in a sort of "permanently porous liquid"

Work Context

This study is part of the ANR CatCall. It will be carried out in the IRCELYON laboratory attached to the University campus of Lyon-1 and to the doctoral school of Chemistry.
More particularly, supervision will be carried out in the "Materials and Processes" team led by Dr. David Farrusseng.
