Job Description
Thesis Subject
This thesis project focuses on the development of catalysts for the hydrogenation of CO/CO₂ into methanol, and even other oxygenates such as dimethyl ether, as part of a national project (PEPR) on 'e-biofuels'. It follows on from our work on ultra-dispersed Mo/TiO2 catalysts, which we are currently continuing with Re/oxide systems. This subject involves the preparation (impregnation, precipitation, etc.) and advanced characterisation (IR, Raman, XAS, TEM, etc.) of metal/oxide catalysts for the synthesis of oxygenates from CO and/or CO2, and mechanistic studies including operando spectroscopy and possibly numerical simulations (microkinetics, DFT). The objective is to discover new eco-efficient catalytic phases that are resistant to variable syngas compositions (CO/CO₂/H₂).
Your Work Environment
The work will be carried out at the Institute for Research on Catalysis and the Environment in Lyon, a laboratory located on the Doua campus (2 Avenue Albert Einstein, Villeurbanne) with a staff of approximately 200 people. The host team is called 'Catalysis for Energy Transition' (CATREN) and is led by Dorothée Laurenti and Laurent Piccolo.
