Description of the thesis topic

Synthesis of Bridged Mesoporous Oxo Phosphonates (BMOP)

Work Context

These mesoporous hybrids will be synthesized using the polyvalence of the NHSG process and by developing a new way of elaboration, using microwaves. After repeating previous synthesis, we will focus on ligands for the specific sorption of Pd. We will particularly focus on the chemical resistance toward hard conditions (such as pH and temperature).
Synthesis of specific ligands for new BMOP elaboration.
We aim at synthetizing new ligands containing mono- or bis-phosphonate moieties for anchoring on the MOx surfaces or for direct BMOP elaboration. This task will be done in collaboration with the ICSM partner. Among all the possible ligands, we will first focus on the synthesis of malonic acid, diglycolic acid and heterocyclic (bipyridine, quinoline) derivatives. These ligands should selectively coordinate Pd as our main element target.
Sorption of other pollutant
Our porous hybrid materials will be investigated on the selective sorption of different pollutants.
We will either study these materials for gaseous or liquid pollutants
