Job Description
Thesis Subject
The recruited PhD student will contribute to the PREBACTOR project (ANR 2026), which aims to elucidate the molecular mechanisms of bacterial predation in Myxococcus xanthus, a key predatory bacterium in soil ecosystems. More specifically, he/she will focus on generating a protein-protein interaction (PPI) network between the Kil and T3SS systems using deep neural network-based structural prediction models (AlphaFold2/3, Boltz-2, RosettaFold3, etc.).
The goal is to map the intra- and inter-complex interactions between the proteins of these two systems, which are essential for contact-dependent predation.
Your Work Environment
The PhD student will be hosted at the Laboratory of Biology and Modeling of the Cell (LBMC, UMR5239) at the École Normale Supérieure de Lyon, within the DAMM team (led by Riccardo Pellarin and Juliette Martin). The team specializes in modeling macromolecular assemblies and using computational methods to study large-scale protein-protein interactions. The LBMC has privileged access to the resources of the Centre Blaise Pascal (CBP) and the Pôle Scientifique de Modélisation Numérique (PSMN), including high-performance computing clusters equipped with state-of-the-art GPUs (H200, GH200, A100, etc.).
