Job Description
Thesis Subject
The ANR POULPE project aims to develop functionalised, degradable and upcyclable polyethylenes. As part of this PhD thesis, we will investigate the radical copolymerisation of ethylene and comonomers in order to produce a PE-based copolymer platform with a controlled comonomer content. We will examine how the thermal and crystalline properties of these copolymers vary as a function of the molar fraction of comonomer. We will then seek to capitalise on the presence of functional units along the chains to develop various post-modification strategies and confer new functionalities and properties on this family of polymers. A life-cycle assessment will be carried out with the aim of identifying the most suitable synthetic approaches.
Your Work Environment
The PhD research will be carried out at the IMP laboratory, which specialises in polymer materials, in close collaboration with the CP2M laboratory, which possesses unique expertise in the field of the polymerisation of gaseous monomers such as ethylene.
Julien BERNARD (Senior Researcher, CNRS, IMP) and Franck D'Agosto (Senior Researcher, CNRS, CP2M) will supervise this work with the assistance of Véronique Bounor-Legaré (Senior Researcher, CNRS, IMP).
