Description of the thesis topic

PhD student for the production by all-optical laser approach of 3D photonic architectures for near and medium-IR within unconventional photosensitive glasses.
The objective is to develop new know-how in the production of high contrast red/infrared emitting structures with subwavelength resolution. Based on our unique expertise in glass science and laser structuring, the project aims to develop all-optical approaches using additive and subtractive laser fabrication to directly create multi-scale fluorescent and/or non-linear photonic crystal-like architectures in perennial inorganic glasses. Such glasses are thus intended for potential integrated photonic applications such as advanced light propagation manipulation and/or high efficiency detection technologies. This project will develop sensors, integrated photonic circuits and diffractive optics.

Work Context

The CELIA laboratory has an international recognition for the laser-matter interaction in femtosecond regime and the direct laser inscription of optical properties. The project is part of a cooperative program between several partners (ANR ArchiFluo program) which brings together industry and laboratories of materials chemistry and spectroscopy.
