Job Description

Thesis Subject

What if artificial intelligence could enable the design of new magnetic nanoparticles for a more detailed exploration of the human serum proteome? As part of the "Materials for Future Medicine" call for PhD projects, the Magniprot project has been selected to host a doctoral candidate in Bordeaux. Situated at the intersection of nanomaterials, proteomics, and artificial intelligence, this PhD project aims to design an AI-assisted library of magnetic nanoparticles dedicated to the in-depth exploration of the human serum proteome.

The project leverages an interdisciplinary scientific environment bringing together:
• ICMCB: Synthesis, surface chemistry, and characterization of magnetic nanoparticles
• OncoProt – TBMCore: High-resolution quantitative proteomics and LC-MS/MS workflows
• LaBRI (Bordeaux Computer Science Research Laboratory): Data science, bioinformatics, and explainable AI
Candidate profile: Master's degree (M2) or equivalent in biochemistry, nano/biotechnology, bioinformatics, or a related field. Prior experience in proteomics, mass spectrometry, nanomaterials, bioinformatics, or machine learning would be an asset, though expertise in all these areas is not required.

Your Work Environment

Created in 1995, the Bordeaux Institute of Condensed Matter Chemistry (ICMCB) focuses its research on Solid State Chemistry, Materials Science and Chemistry and Process: designing, preparing, shaping and characterizing materials in order to discover, control and optimize specific functions. The ICMCB carries out fundamental research on model materials and/or materials with potential applications.
The ICMCB is a UMR with an average of 280 agents (permanent and non-permanent), with 3 tutelles, hosted by the CNRS and in total ZRR. The position is located in a sector covered by the Protection of Scientific and Technical Potential (PSTP), and therefore requires, in accordance with the regulations, that the arrival of the agent be authorized by the competent authority of MESR.

Constraints and risks

The work will be carried out at three University of Bordeaux sites. The student will need to demonstrate a high degree of autonomy and strong organizational skills.
