Job Description
Thesis Subject
This thesis is part of the ANR ULTRAZO project, whose objective is to understand and control local dynamic modifications induced by laser at different time and energy scales in thin films of metal oxides (transparent conductive oxides). The idea is to provide energy with precise spatial and temporal control to drive the desired transformations and greatly reduce unwanted processes that deteriorate the properties of the layer. Objectives of the thesis: - Implement pump-probe characterization setups to study the transformations in a reversible and non-reversible regime of thin films of AZO (Al-doped ZnO). - Characterize the evolution of excess charge carriers and recombination times in different samples to optimize the properties of AZO. - Characterize the permanent changes induced by ultrafast laser pulses. The student will interact with another PhD student who studies the permanent modifications induced by different types of laser in AZO layers, but also with a postdoc in charge of atomistic simulations.
Your Work Environment
This thesis will take place between two laboratories: the "Hubert Curien Laboratory" in Saint-Etienne and the "Glass Surface and Interfaces" laboratory, a joint unit between Saint-Gobain and the CNRS located in the Saint-Gobain R&D center in Aubervilliers. The student will be based in St Etienne, but will spend time in Aubervilliers depending on the needs of the thesis. The position is located in a sector under the protection of scientific and technical potential (PPST), and therefore requires, in accordance with the regulations, that your arrival be authorized by the competent authority of the MESR.
