Stratégie d'établissement

This CPJ involves one of the 5 research themes CNRS HSS wishes to prioritise in the framework of a multi-annual recruitment strategy that involves CPJs at the interface between law, economics, political science, territorial sciences, sociology - political studies, studies of the forms of social life.
In 2022 CNRS Humanities and Social Sciences initiated multidisciplinary work which led a group of multidisciplinary research laboratories to draw up a state of knowledge in the humanities and social sciences and produced a white paper devoted to research on work. Now the Institute is proposing a CPJ on the same subject.
This CPJ provides the opportunity to highlight a key research issue following on from this collective research. Work remains central to both the individual and collective trajectories of our societies but in recent years work environments have gone through profound changes including digitalisation and platformisation, environmental transition, tensions over social rights and reconfigurations of the relationship between time and employment. In this context, innovative, interdisciplinary research is essential to inform public policy and organisational strategies. As yet, humanities and social sciences research seems to have taken little interest in the impact on work of transformations brought about by the environmental transition in terms of professional practices, social relations and economic organisation. This will be a core subject for this CPJ.

Stratégie du laboratoire d'accueil

The 4 potential host laboratories - LEST, CLERSÉ, PRINTEMPS and LISE – work in different disciplinary fields, namely law, political science, sociology and economics. They were selected on the basis of: a) their key position in research into the major social transformations currently redefining the worlds of work; b) their multidisciplinary nature which will provide a favourable ecosystem for the proposed scientific project and c) their integration within a particularly promising academic context in these research fields. The 4 laboratories are joint research units with academic partners with whom CNRS Humanities & Social Sciences would like to develop or already has developed strong scientific links, namely Aix-Marseille University, University of Lille, University of Versailles Saint Quentin en Yvelines, and the CNAM.

Stratégie Internationale

The Chairholder will be expected to implement actions and set up partnerships in the given thematic field and particularly to commit to submitting a project in the framework of European calls for proposals like ERC, Horizon Europe Consortium, etc. during the 5 years of his/her contract.

Résumé du projet scientifique

The relationship between work and the environmental crisis has been a core issue for more than a decade. The 2020 pandemic made it all the more urgent to understand the complex links between the environmental crisis, the health crisis and changes in the world of work. These changes include the greening of jobs, atypical career changes, the 'great resignation' and the rise of working from home. The person recruited will analyse the impact of the ecological transition on: production processes and new occupations, the sustainability of forms of work organisation, home-work mobility, and finally the links between the environmental crisis, the meaning of work and well-being. He/she will also study emerging forms of inequality and tensions between the ecological and digital transitions, with particular focus on changes in industrial relations. Methodologically, priority will be given to mixed approaches as well as intra- and international comparative methods.

Résumé du projet d'enseignement

Teaching will be discussed according to the site which the successful candidate is assigned to. He/she will be involved in teaching on existing courses at each site.

Environnement Financier

  • Total financé (dont package ANR) : 200 k€
  • Total du projet : 0 k€

Diffusion scientifique

The results will be disseminated via world-class scientific productions like publications, software, patents, and so forth. The project will also communicate with a wide range of target audiences including the scientific community, the media, decision-makers, the general public, schools, etc., applying an appropriate schedule. Specific tools may be developed like websites, newsletters, meetings, international conferences, summer schools and other conferences.

Science ouverte

The CNRS has adopted a strong policy in favour of open science. Open science consists in making research results "as accessible as possible and as closed as necessary". To achieve this, the CNRS objective is for 100% of the texts of publications resulting from the work of its units to be in open access, particularly through researchers submitting them to HAL. The data produced should also be made available and reusable unless specific restrictions apply. In addition, the guidelines on the individual evaluation of researchers have been revised to conform with the DORA declaration, to be more qualitative and to take all facets of a researcher's work into account.

Science et société

The relationship between science and society is now recognised as a full dimension of scientific activity in its own right. The project will develop this dimension in synergy with all partners involved. The resulting research will help inform the public decision-making process. Participatory science initiatives may be organised with stakeholders from the project's socio-economic and cultural ecosystem.

Indicateurs

In particular, the CPJ's activities will be assessed on the basis of scientific output (publications, software, patents, etc.), institutional and private partnerships with formal contracts, international influence, the promotion and dissemination of work to multi-disciplinary scientific communities, innovation and its transfer to society and scientific dissemination to non-specialist audiences.
