Stratégie d'établissement

This CPJ reflects CNRS Humanities and Social Sciences' support for innovative research in the legal sciences that can be linked to research from other disciplines including fields outside the humanities and social sciences. Among the key themes and research questions identified for the legal sciences - particularly in relation to economics, history, political science and sociology - is the theme of contemporary changes in forms of regulation and public action. This theme is a priority recruitment target for CNRS Humanities and Social Sciences' junior professor chairs campaigns and has already led to two recruitments.
The profile presented herein focuses on the legal sciences and is also a response to the support given to areal, comparative and transnational approaches which particularly focus on analysing circulations and transfers between geographical areas and periods to provide a complex reading of the dynamics of networks, influences and interactions. This emphasis on areal approaches - in relation with the academic partners involved - makes it possible to identify, structure and fund research communities. Significant resources have been invested in this by CNRS Humanities & Social Sciences through its specialised joint research units (UMRs), laboratories in other countries, networks, various international cooperation tools, international PhD student contracts and finally through the Institute's support for incoming and outgoing mobility.

Stratégie du laboratoire d'accueil

The three potential host laboratories have key positioning in legal science research and are integrated within a particularly promising academic context in this area. They are joint research units with academic partners with which CNRS Humanities and Social Sciences wishes to develop or already has solid scientific links in the research field of this CPJ (University of Rennes, University Paris Nanterre, École Normale Supérieure PSL and Aix-Marseille University). They also offer a research ecosystem that means the scientific challenges for the CPJ can be dealt with in a multi-disciplinary manner within the humanities and social sciences by applying social science methods (quantitative approaches, mapping normative flows and network analysis, etc.) and combining historical analysis, observations of contemporary developments and forward thinking.

Stratégie Internationale

The Chairholder will be expected to implement actions and set up partnerships in the given thematic field and particularly to commit to submitting a project in the framework of European calls for proposals like ERC, Horizon Europe Consortium, etc. during the 5 years of his/her contract. The person recruited will benefit from the opportunities offered by the CNRS's international units (particularly the Maison Française in Oxford or Mondes en Transitions in Sao Paulo) for research stays that will give access to fieldwork in other countries and/or to develop collaborative projects.

Résumé du projet scientifique

The modalities of legal regulation are going through profound changes that need to be better documented. The State was once the central regulator but now the production of norms is shared with a plurality of transnational or private stakeholders who produce standards of varying normative scope. This polycentrism weakens the traditional hierarchy of norms and drives the emergence of permeable legal systems in which reciprocal influences and conflicts between national, regional and international legal orders are intensifying. The person recruited will focus on a particular stakeholder, sector or theme to
explore the relationships between these different sources of standards, the dynamics of their interactions and the mechanisms used to resolve conflicts, including from a diachronic standpoint. The Chairholder will also examine the tensions arising from these developments, between the legitimacy and effectiveness of norms and standards and respect for legal pluralism

Résumé du projet d'enseignement

Teaching will be discussed according to the site which the successful candidate is assigned to. He/she will be involved in teaching on existing courses at each site.

Environnement Financier

  • Total financé (dont package ANR) : 200 k€
  • Total du projet : 0 k€

Diffusion scientifique

The dissemination of the results will be done through world-class scientific productions: publications, patents, software... In addition, the results will be communicated to various targets such as scientific communities, media, decision makers, general public, schools, etc., with an adapted calendar. Specific tools may be developed such as websites, newsletters, meetings, international symposia, summer schools and conferences.

Science ouverte

The CNRS is developing a strong policy in favor of open science. Open science consists of making research results "as accessible as possible and closed as necessary". As such, the CNRS aims to make 100% of the texts of publications resulting from the work of its laboratories accessible , in particular through deposit in HAL. The data produced must also be made available and reusable, except for specific restrictions. In addition, the guiding principles of individual evaluation have been revised in accordance with the DORA declaration, to be more qualitative and to take into account all facets of the researcher's profession.

Science et société

The relationship between science and society is now recognized as a full dimension of scientific activity. The project will develop this dimension in synergy with all the partners. The resulting research work will contribute to informing public decision-making. Participatory science initiatives may be initiated with actors from the project's socio-economic and cultural eco-system.

Indicateurs

The activity will be evaluated in particular on the basis of scientific production (publications, software, patents, etc.), on institutional and private partnerships formalized by contracts, on international presence, on the promotion of work to multidisciplinary scientific communities, on innovation and its transfer to society and on scientific dissemination to non-specialist audiences.
