Job Description
Missions
The engineer will contribute to the development, validation and qualification of the Warm Front-End Electronics (WFEE) by designing, developing and operating the experimental facilities required to demonstrate the system's performance.
The position is at the interface between:
* Scientific instrumentation
* Precision electronics
* Systems engineering
* AIT/AIV
* Product assurance
A significant part of the activity will involve conducting tests on WFEE models and translating experimental results into documented performance demonstrations that meet the requirements of the X-IFU consortium, the French National Centre for Space Studies (CNES) and the European Space Agency (ESA).
Activity
* Design, develop and operate experimental test benches for WFEE validation.
* Develop the test facilities and EGSE equipment required for experimental campaigns.
* Define and conduct characterization campaigns for the EM, EQM and Thermal Dummy models.
* Measure, analyse and interpret the performance of the various subsystems, including:
* Very-low-frequency noise (sub-Hz)
* Bandwidth
* Linearity
* Stability
* Distortion
* PSRR, CMRR and drifts
* Participate in testing under representative environmental conditions (vacuum, thermal, radiation and EMC environments).
* Develop data acquisition, measurement automation and data analysis tools (Python, etc.).
* Produce test procedures, test reports, performance verification and justification dossiers, and technical documentation in accordance with ESA/CNES/ECSS requirements.
* Participate in the integration, assembly, validation and qualification activities for the WFEE carried out at APC and at consortium partners' facilities.
* Present results at project reviews, consortium meetings and international conferences.

Your Work Environment
The engineer will join the Electronics & Microelectronics Department at APC and will be part of the WFEE project team as well as the cross-functional AstroReadout team.
The work will be carried out in close collaboration with the laboratory's electronics, mechanical engineering, cryogenics, astrophysics, product assurance and systems engineering teams, as well as with partners from the international X-IFU consortium.
Experimental activities will be carried out primarily in the low-noise laboratories at APC.
The position involves regular travel in France and Europe (CNES Toulouse, IRAP, SRON, etc.) for integration and qualification campaigns and technical reviews.
Constraints and risks
This mission contract is established for the period required to complete the development, validation, qualification and preparation of the flight models of APC's Warm Front-End Electronics (WFEE) contribution to the X-IFU instrument.
The mission is intended to support APC's contribution through the achievement of a level of maturity sufficient to establish its technical and experimental readiness, consolidate the results of the development and qualification activities, and prepare for the continuation of activities related to the flight models.
The achievement of the objectives of this mission phase will be assessed through an internal maturity and contribution closure review organized by the French National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS). This review will notably assess:
* The technical maturity achieved by the WFEE contribution;
* The completion and validation of the planned test facilities and experimental campaigns;
* The consolidation of the results and associated technical documentation;
* The level of readiness achieved for the continuation of activities related to the flight models.
