The FAIR Data Referencing Officer will work 50% on CO-OPERAS Community management and 50% on the referencing of OpenEdition platforms content.

CO-OPERAS' Community management will consist in following the activities of the Working Groups and supporting the partners in carrying out the planned tasks. In particular, it shall:
- Ensure the members engagement in the work programme;
- Ensure that they have a good understanding of the objectives;
- Ensure that the roadmap is respected;
- Contribute to the preparation of workshops and meetings;
- Contribute to the writing of reports;
- Inform CO-OPERAS members about work organization.

The purpose of the mission of referencing content published on OpenEdition is to improve the identification, certification and visibility of content and platforms. This activity is divided into three tasks:
-Identification and citability: monitoring of the assignment of
unique identifiers such as ISSN, ISBN, DOI, ORCID, etc.
-Content certification: implement referencing for certifying
authorities, such as DOAJ, DOAB, SCOPUS, WOS, OpenAire, which award
OpenEdition content with quality or reputation labels..
-Visibility indexing: supervise the implementation of referencing to
the tools most used by our users (SUDOC, discovery tools), in order
to increase the use of our content.


- Facilitate and monitor the activities of the Working Groups.
- Participate in the finalization of deliverables.
- Participate in the organization of events (workshops, focus
- Collect, analyze and share information.
- Communicate internally and externally on CO-OPERAS' work.

OpenEdition Referencing:
- Reference the content distributed on the OpenEdition platform, in
particular journals and books.
- Manage the OpenEdition referencing committee.
- Support publishers in the referencing process of their journals
and books in databases such as DOAJ, DOAB, Scopus, Web of Science,
- Ensure that books, journals and blogs are properly referenced in
the tools used in university libraries: EBSCO Discovery Service,
Proquest Summon, OCLC Discovery, EBSCO AtoZ, SFX, etc.
- Update journals coverage lists.
- Check the quality of metadata in the various formats offered by
the platforms, including MARC21, UNIMARC, Kbart, Z3950, etc.


- Comprehensive knowledge of scientific and technical information
norms and standards for the description and identification of
- Comprehensive knowledge of FAIR principles and issues related to
data interoperability and re-use
- General knowledge of the actors involved in scholarly
communication and open access publishing
- Ability to manage community media and social networks
- Ability to use software specific to the activity (collaborative
documents, instant messaging)
- General knowledge of communication and multimedia tools and
- General knowledge of the processes and tools for accessing digital
resources in University libraries, especially in French University
- General knowledge of Internet standards
- Understand, interpret and use standards for structured data
- General knowledge of standards and technologies for structured
data (XML, MARC);
- Practical knowledge of data processing scripting tools (SQL,
javascript, python...)
- General knowledge of Information and Communication Sciences
- General knowledge of European projects
-Proficiency in written French and English.

Work Context

OpenEdition ( is a digital publishing infrastructure for scientific information in the Social Sciences and Humanities.
OpenEdition coordinates with Huma-Num the implementation of the OPERAS Research Infrastructure (
OPERAS currently brings together 40 international institutions from 16 different countries aiming at building a research infrastructure dedicated to open scholarly communication in the Social Sciences and Humanities. OPERAS will in particular create a discovery platform to reference all of its partners' content (the TRIPLE project is based on Isidore). The construction of OPERAS is financed through European calls for projects (Horizon 2020).

As part of its participation in Go FAIR, the OPERAS consortium has also set up the CO-OPERAS implementation network for data and publications in SSH. CO-OPERAS' mission is to make a state of the art to make SSH data compliant with FAIR principles (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable). The CO-OPERAS project is funded by the ANR call for "Open Data".

In the context of OpenEdition, this mission helps to complete and perfect the existing processes for referencing. Referencing, in this context, is intended as the indexing activities improving the identification, certification and visibility of OpenEdition content and platforms. The contents of OpenEdition are indexed on Google Scholar, Ebsco, Isidore, DOAJ, DOAB.

The FAIR Data Referencing Officer will be part of the OpenEdition Data Department in Marseille. For half of the time, it will be co-supervised by the International Development Department. The FAIR Data Referencing Manager will work in collaboration with the OpenEdition Data Manager and the OPERAS' FAIR Data Manager. He will also work closely with the TRIPLE Data Steward, who will support the project partners in standardizing their data.
