Job Description
Missions
The mission is to participate in a project aimed at gaining a better understanding of the replication of clinically and public health-relevant positive-sense RNA viruses. This research will help identify new therapeutic targets and intervention pathways to block the replication of these pathogens, with the goal of developing innovative antiviral strategies.
Activity
• Design, organise and conduct experiments.
• Analyse experimental results and perform statistical analyses.
• Coordinate activities with the postdoctoral fellow assigned to the project.
• Manage and monitor the project in collaboration with the research team.
• Write scientific reports and contribute to the dissemination of results.
Other duties:
• Help organise the laboratory.
• Assist in mentoring the team's students.
Your Profil
Skills
Ph.D. in biology or a related field.
• Expertise in organizing biological samples and reagents.
• Previous experience in project management and data analysis is highly desirable.
• Proficiency in English at the C1 level according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).
• Ability to work independently and with attention to detail, and to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary and international team.
Your Work Environment
The research engineer (M/F) will join the Insect Innate Immunity Models Research Unit (UPR9022), located at the Institute of Molecular and Cellular Biology (IBMC) on the Esplanade campus in Strasbourg (65 members).
This unit studies the molecular and cellular basis of host defenses against infections in arthropods (the fruit fly Drosophila melanogaster, other Drosophila species, and the tiger mosquito Aedes aegypti). It consists of 60 people organized into 6 research teams.

He or she will also join William Bakhache's team (Laboratory of Molecular Mechanisms of Positive-Sense RNA Viruses for M+RVL), consisting of 2 members, and will be responsible for improving our understanding of the replication of positive-sense RNA viruses.
This project, funded by Labex NetRNA, aims to better understand viral replication in order to develop new antiviral drugs.
The Institute of Molecular and Cellular Biology (IBMC) is easily accessible by bus and tram. The CNRS offers a subsidized health insurance plan and also contributes toward public transportation costs. A staff cafeteria is available on campus. Meals are subsidized by the CNRS.
