Missions
The assignment is part of the ANR-JCJC project 'PROSIT - Les traductions monastiques du Nord-Est: Une communauté textuelle à l'origine de la prose française'. The aim of the project is to study a group of prose translations, in Old French with a strong North-Eastern flavour, taken from Latin texts and produced in monastic environments in the second half of the 12th century (https://www.irht.cnrs.fr/fr/recherche/les-programmes-de-recherche/prosit-prose-translation). The postdoc researcher will be responsible for the entire exploitation of a text from the corpus.
Activités
The postdoc recruited will be responsible for one text in particular, preserved in the ms Nantes, Musée Dobrée, 5. Nantes, Musée Dobrée, 5. The aim will be to provide a critical edition of the text, now unpublished, with an introduction, notes and glossary, comparing the Old French text with the Latin original. For this part of the work, the postdoc will have to look not only at the critical edition of the Latin text, but also at the Latin manuscript tradition. The editing of the text, the linguistic study and the compilation of the glossary will open up new scientific questions about the texts in the corpus, in particular those preserved in the Nantes collection, but not exclusively. Alongside a lexicon that is sometimes specific to these translations, the syntactic and stylistic convergences of these texts will be the subject of further research that may emerge from the editing work. At the same time, the postdoc will be helping to update the JONAS records (online directory of Oc and Oïl mss: https://jonas.irht.cnrs.fr) by contributing to the progress of research on all “monastic” translations. The postdoc will take part in team meetings and seminars. He/she may, with the agreement of the project leader, publish articles or give papers on the corpus, alone or in partnership with other project members. He/she will be able to manage his/her working time independently, in agreement with the project leader. Regular participation in the life of the laboratory is highly desirable.
