Job Description
Missions
The postdoctoral researcher will contribute to the development of functional coatings for titanium surfaces based on polyphosphonate macromolecules. The project aims to explore a simple alternative to mineral coatings such as hydroxyapatite for implantology. The main tasks will involve preparing macromolecular candidates, implementing their deposition onto titanium surfaces, characterizing the resulting surfaces, and contributing to the analysis of relationships between molecular structure, surface properties, and biological outcomes generated by the project partners.
Activity
Synthesis and purification of batches of dendrimers or polyphosphonate macromolecules as candidates for deposition on titanium. Preparation, activation, and functionalization of titanium surfaces or discs. Development of simple deposition protocols in aqueous media and optimization of experimental conditions. Physicochemical characterization of the modified surfaces using the techniques available in the laboratory, including electron microscopy, surface spectroscopies, and thin-film analysis methods. Analysis of relationships between molecular structure, surface properties, and biological results obtained by the project partners. Preparation of experimental reports, participation in scientific meetings, and contribution to the project deliverables.
Your Profil
Skills
The desired profile is that of a PhD holder in chemistry, materials science, or a closely related field, with solid and mandatory experience in synthetic chemistry, ideally organic or macromolecular chemistry, as well as experience in surface functionalization or surface treatment. Expected skills include experimental autonomy and rigor in conducting a research project; proficiency in standard techniques for synthesis, purification, and molecular characterization; a strong interest in materials–biology interfaces and biomedical applications; the ability to analyze and document results according to academic research standards; aptitude for collaborative work in a public–private environment; and very good scientific communication skills. Knowledge of titanium surfaces, osseointegration, or materials for implantology would be appreciated.
Your Work Environment
The position will be hosted at the Laboratoire de Chimie de Coordination, LCC-CNRS, in Toulouse, within a team with recognized expertise in dendrimer chemistry, phosphorus-containing macromolecules, and hybrid materials. The recruited researcher will work in a structured academic environment, at the interface with a public–private research collaboration. The project will involve regular interactions with academic and industrial partners. The biological activities associated with the project will be carried out by the partner teams already involved; the position will primarily focus on chemistry, deposition onto titanium, and surface characterization.
Constraints and risks
The project is part of a public–private collaborative framework and may involve intellectual property considerations. The recruited researcher will be required to comply with the confidentiality, result traceability, and scientific communication rules defined by the partners. The experimental work will involve the handling of chemical reagents, metallic surfaces and, where applicable, nanoparticles or metal salts. All work must be carried out in strict compliance with the laboratory's health and safety procedures.
