Missions

Data acquisition is mandatory in research labs. Collaborative open source software development is a way to work together on a long living and broad solution. Started in 2018, PyMoDAQ «Modular Data Acquisition with Python» allows orchestration of experimental setups, modular data acquisition and specialized user interface development. PyMoDAQ is used by many labs in France and abroad. The applicant will have to take care of the organization of the collaborative work on the software, the development of specific extensions and perform continuous integration of the code.

Activities

Activities are related to the software development through :
• continuous integration: refactoring the code, test suite writing
• answer questions and issues. Review contributions
• New functionalities development related to user need
• attending the annual user and developer workshop on PyMoDAQ

Skills

• Oriented object programming (at least on the python language)
• instrumentation – development or assembly of instruments in the lab and its computer control
• code versioning and collaborative software development
• English: written and spoken

People applying have to justify experience in experimental instrumentation.

Work Context

The recruited person will be integrated into a team specialized in optics and materials science, as well as the technical services of the laboratory responsible for experimental development. The work will take place at the CEMES laboratory in Toulouse. Interaction with users and other PyMoDAQ developers will primarily be done remotely, but some travel may be required. The recruited person can benefit from up to three days of teleworking per week, depending on the activities required.
