Job Description
Missions
• Develop, implement, and optimize micro- and nanofabrication processes for the production of nanostructured magnetic metamaterials.
• Fabricate two-dimensional arrays of nanomagnets on silicon nitride (Si₃N₄) membranes for transmission electron microscopy (TEM) experiments.
• Adapt fabrication processes to the constraints of in situ and operando dynamic imaging experiments, particularly regarding reproducibility and structural quality.
• Participate in the continuous improvement of nanofabrication processes and protocols in a cleanroom environment.
Activity
• Develop and implement micro- and nanofabrication processes in a cleanroom environment.
• Perform laser lithography and electron beam lithography.
• Implement thin-film deposition, chemical etching, and lift-off processes.
• Fabricate nanomagnet arrays on silicon nitride (Si₃N₄) thin membranes.
• Optimize fabrication parameters to ensure sample reproducibility.
• Adapt processes to the requirements of dynamic transmission electron microscopy observations.
• Exchange between fabrication processes and observation needs.
• Participate in the development and formalization of fabrication protocols.
Your Profil
Skills
• Proficiency in or knowledge of micro- and nanofabrication techniques.
• Ability to work in a cleanroom and apply rigorous experimental protocols.
• Ability to develop, adapt, and optimize fabrication processes.
• Rigor, methodology, and organizational skills.
• Ability to analyze results and ensure process reproducibility.
• Autonomy in carrying out assigned tasks.
• Scientific curiosity and ability to solve technical problems.
• Strict adherence to safety rules and work procedures.
• Ability to interact with research teams and consider the needs of experimentalists.
• Knowledge of electrical measurements and nanostructure characterization is an asset.
Your Work Environment
CEMES-CNRS is a fundamental CNRS research laboratory specialized in solid-state physics, nanoscience, molecular chemistry, and materials science of approximately 150 people distributed across 7 research groups and 4 technical platforms.
It has a 400 m² cleanroom dedicated to micro- and nanofabrication. This cleanroom is equipped with optical, laser, and electron beam lithography techniques, wet and dry etching, as well as a focused ion beam (FIB) system. It also allows for electron beam metallization and the deposition of passivation layers. Morphological characterization equipment, including atomic force microscopy, along with electrical and optical characterization tools, complement these technological resources.
The ANR MetaCharge project aims to exploit nanofabricated magnetic metamaterials as experimental platforms to emulate and visualize, in real time and at the nanoscale, fundamental charge transport phenomena. By using two-dimensional arrays of nanomagnets, the project aims to establish a link between frustrated magnetism and the physics of electron transport. The success of this project depends crucially on the controlled fabrication of thermally active metamaterials compatible with advanced operando imaging techniques, particularly transmission electron microscopy (TEM).
