Missions
The objective of the post-doctorate will be to develop a set of numerical modeling tools adapted to the different spatial scales encountered, in order to provide both characterization tools for the optics developed experimentally within the framework of Opale, as well as tools to assist in the design of such surfaces.
Activities
In the context of this work, a common problem in this field of research remains the accurate modeling of optical effects taking into account sub-wavelength effects, in very large systems, to correctly model wide-field optical effects.
The work will focus on the modeling of advanced micro/nano-structured lens structures to develop a tool for far-field performance prediction and surface design
Skills
- Sub-wavelength photonic modeling (FMM, FDTD or FEM techniques)
- Physics of sub-wavelength optics
- Electromagnetism
- Optical propagation (Gaussian optics, diffractive optics...)
- Additional experience in optics/experimental technology will be appreciated.
- Experience in the use of distributed computing resources (cluster, supercomputers) will also be appreciated.
Work Context
The joint laboratory OPALE between LAAS and ESSILOR is studying the potential of nanotechnologies for vision correction. In this context, the laboratory's teams develop original optical systems based on the Fresnel folding principles of the phase surface of flat lenses, using objects that can be both super- and sub-wavelength
Constraints and risks
