Job Description

Missions

The recruited person will play a key role in the scientific activities carried out within the framework of an ANR project aiming to improve proactive robot-to-human communication capabilities through the exploration of tactile communication. This communication channel, widely used in human interactions, remains largely underexplored in robotics due to the complexity associated with perception, decision-making, interaction planning, and control required for the effective use of tactility as a communication modality. The postdoctoral mission will consist in conducting cutting-edge research on this topic, contributing to the development of new approaches in human-robot interaction and proactive tactile communication.

Activity

- Conduct research with a high degree of autonomy.
- Collaborate with PhD students involved in the project.
- Participate in team meetings and the laboratory's scientific events.
- Define and supervise Master's internship projects aligned with the objectives of the project.
- Prepare, write, and present scientific papers at international conferences and in peer-reviewed journals.

Your Profil

Skills

- PhD in robotics, computer science, or related scientific fields.
- Experience working in collaborative research projects and in student supervision.
- Strong publication record in leading international robotics conferences and journals, or in related scientific fields.
- Experience conducting research in human-robot interaction (HRI).
- Up to 2 years of experience after PhD defense.
- Master's GPA higher than 85% of the maximum grade.

Your Work Environment

The work will be carried out at LAAS-CNRS, within the RIS team, under the supervision of Dr Bolotnikova and co-supervision of Dr Clodic. The position is part of an ANR-funded project.
The starting date is flexible and can be defined according to the selected candidate's availability and the project timeline.
