Job Description
Missions
The postdoc will develop a cryo-EM pipeline for the analysis of proteins, protein complexes, and protein-nucleic acid complexes, from sample preparation to data analysis. The tasks will also include protein purification and biophysical characterization.
Activity
Biochemistry and molecular biology techniques,
Sample preparation for negative-stain EM and cryo-EM,
sample screening with microscopes, data acquisition,
data analysis. Interpretation of results and writing of scientific articles,
Presentation of results at conferences and scientific events.
Your Profil
Skills
We are looking for a motivated, dynamic, and independent individual for a postdoctoral position. The ideal candidate will have solid experience in protein biochemistry and electron microscopy. The postdoc will be assisted by an experienced cryo-EM engineer but must already have independent expertise in this technique. The successful candidate will be expected to carry out their research project independently while collaborating closely with other team members and external laboratories.
Your Work Environment
The CBM (UPR4301, CNRS) is located on the CNRS campus in Orléans, which features 6,300 m² of modern research and administrative facilities. The centre brings together biologists, physicists, and chemists who work closely to understand the molecular mechanisms underlying diseases such as cancer. The research centre provides an interactive and international work environment, with a wide range of equipment suitable for multidisciplinary research. For electron microscopy, our team has tools for sample preparation (negative staining and cryo-EM) as well as data analysis. A basic microscope is available on the Orléans campus, and we have access to high-performance microscopes through a BAG membership at the SOLEIL synchrotron.
The project is funded by an ERC Starting Grant dedicated to protein SUMOylation.
