The post-doctorate will have the mission to identify solutions based on alloys of the Ti-Nb-Zr family for biomedical applications.


The work will consist of: (i) participating in the formulation of T-Nb-Zr alloys, (ii) optimizing the production parameters by additive manufacturing on a powder bed (SLM process) of the formulated alloys, (iii) characterization their microstructure (at broad sense) and (iv) prepare and perform mechanical tests following standards, to identify the alloy (s) that best meet the specifications for the intended application


The candidate will have a Ph.D. in materials science or mechanics of materials, mainly experimental-oriented. The skills and knowledge (not exhaustive) sought are as follows: powder metallurgy (conventional and non-conventional methods), microstructural characterizations, mechanical properties, and their links with the microstructure (structural defects, plasticity, etc.). In addition, mastery of the following experimental techniques will be appreciated:
• X-ray diffraction
• Electron microscopy (scanning, transmission, and associated techniques: EBSD, EDS…)
• Mechanical tests (quasi-static regime monotonic or cyclic loadings)
The candidate should be able to fit into a multidisciplinary team of metallurgists, chemists, and physicists. He/she must also be proactive, autonomous, and promote scientific results (writing reports and scientific publications).

Work Context

It is specified that this recruitment offer is part of the France Relance plan on a research collaboration project with a company, which will be subject to validation by the DRARI.
The proposed mission is part of a long-standing collaboration between the LSPM and Z3DLab SAS, a specialist in additive manufacturing (biomaterials and materials for aeronautics). The post-doctoral student will realize 80% of his working time. Both entities are located within a 10-minute walk. This allows efficient exchanges.

Constraints and risks

It should be noted that the LSPM is a zone with a restrictive regime, which induces a latency of at least eight weeks between the selection of the candidate and the start of the mission.
