Missions
At the CNRS, the Pprime Institute, based at the Futuroscope site, is recruiting a Researcher will work on numerical study of the dynamics of metastable fronts in hot gases.
The context is that of industrial process safety and knocking in internal combustion engines.
The first aim is to study the evolution of the cell structure that can develop when pressure and ignition gradients are concomitant, as the two influence each other. The second aim is to use this acquired knowledge to propose and test a simplified model, on the canonical configuration of the extinction of a reactive front.
In this way, it is necessary to understand the fundamental mechanisms responsible for the development of this cellular structure, which develops in a closed tube. The model is based on Euler equations with source terms, and 1D/2D numerical simulations will be carried out.
Activités
Initially, the study will focus on testing a simplified model.
Secondly, the influence of dissipative effects will be explored in 2D/3D using the extension to the Navier-Stokes equations, particularly in the case of a helical configuration, where conservation of helicity would play an important role.
Compétences

- CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics),
- reactive flows,
- numerical simulation

The person recruited will work in collaboration with a doctoral student from the Institut Pprime.
