Work Context

The Grand Accélérateur National d'Ions Lourds (GANIL-SPIRAL2) in Caen is one of the five major laboratories in the world using heavy ion beams for fundamental research in nuclear physics. The intensity and variety of the beams delivered by the cyclotrons and the linear accelerator, combined with advanced detectors, make GANIL-SPIRAL2 a unique and exceptional multidisciplinary facility. Several hundred scientists from all over the world come to GANIL-SPIRAL2 every year to carry out their experiments. In this context, the VAMOS spectrometer is one of the instruments contributing to the attractiveness of GANIL. The combination of the VAMOS ++ spectrometer with the next set of PISTA charged particle detectors will allow to reach new limits of experimental sensitivity to study the dynamics of the fission reaction in coincidence with the complete isotopic identification of fission fragments.
The position is focused on the preparation and operation of experimental setups involving the VAMOS ++ spectrometer and the PISTA charged particle detector. The scientific activities of the VAMOS group are devoted to the study of the spectroscopy of neutron-rich nuclei, the fission mechanism and the experimental developments associated with the VAMOS spectrometer in collaboration with many institutions in Europe and in the world.
The results of the work done will be presented by the post-doc in international conferences and will be published in scientific publications.
The post-doctoral fellow will be integrated in the Physics/Research Activities division
