Successful candidate will join Megagauss team at LNCMI with aim to develop novel THz laser magneto-spectrometer based on quantum cascade lasers (QCLs). She/he will closely collaborate with group at Paul Drude Institute in Berlin, Germany (PDI) in order to optimize performance of QCLs under in the vicinity of strong magnetic fields. She/he will also participate in experiments under magnetic field above 100 Tesla and generate scientific output.


The principal activities are distributed between the following tasks:
-Develop THz magneto-spectroscopy experimental technique to be used under magnetic fields above 100T
-Preform THz spectroscopic measurements of novel semiconductor materials
-Analyse and publish results
-Participate in user support


Completed Ph. D. degree
Solid knowledge of semiconductor physics
Excellent experimental skills
Backgrounds in laser spectroscopy, quantum-cascade lasers, and magnetic fields are welcome
Good English level

Work Context

Laboratoire National des Champs Magnétiques Intenses in Toulouse (LNCMI), part of the European Magnetic Field Laboratory (EMFL), is a world-leading user facility providing access to high magnetic fields. The laboratory is able to generate magnetic fields up to 98 Tesla in a non-destructive manner and above 100 Tesla in a semi-destructive way. A variety of experimental techniques are available on-site, including transport, magnetisation, optical spectroscopy in wide range of energies.
