Missions

The postdoctoral fellow will join the existing activity of the Quantum Electronics group at LNCMI-Toulouse, which studies TMD (transition metal dichalcogenide) heterostructures. In particular, they will use TMD heterostructures with grids to study the influence of the electric field on exciton-phonon coupling.

Activities

Develop a research activity in the field of TMD heterostructures using magneto-optical spectroscopy in pulsed fields up to 70T at LNCMI-T. Work with other members of the group to perform data analysis with commercially available software (e.g. Origin) and develop new code for data analysis (e.g. in Mathlab). - Supervise PhD and Master students of the Quantum Electronics group. Disseminate research results through peer-reviewed publications and presentations at scientific meetings and conferences.

Skills

Magneto-optical spectroscopy of nano-objects. Cryogenics. Solid-state physics. Quantum mechanics.

Work Context

The postdoctoral fellow is expected to join the existing Quantum Electronics group, working with other members of the group to make a major contribution to the project. Initially, the postdoc will be closely supervised by Paulina Plochocka and other members of the group while learning how to do magneto-optics in the challenging environment of a pulsed magnetic field facility. The Quantum Electronics group is an international group (partially delocalized in the University of Wroclaw, Poland) and the working language is English. The Laboratoire National des Champs Magnétiques Intenses (LNCMI) is a research infrastructure hosting researchers from all over the world for high magnetic field experiments. LNCMI is a member of the European High Magnetic Field Laboratory (EMFL). At two sites, LNCMI offers continuous fields in Grenoble (LNCMI-G) and pulsed fields in Toulouse (LNCMI-T). The laboratory's scientific activities involved both internal and collaborative research.

Constraints and risks

The candidate is expected to work in a high magnetic field facility respecting all the safety rules in place.
