The candidate will conduct research in the field of unconventional superconductors, mainly cuprates, by conducting magnetic resonance experiments (NMR). The main scientific questions explored will revolve around electronic orders in competition with superconductivity (charge density waves and magnetic stripes) and their importance for understanding the electronic properties of these materials.
The candidate will
- participate in the definition of the research program
- will implement, develop and improve the NMR instrumentation necessary for the experiments
- will perform NMR experiments in superconducting and resistive magnets at the LNCMI Grenoble
- analyze and interpret experimental data
- disseminate the results in publications, reports and presentations at meetings or conferences
The candidate must be motivated by experimental research in an international-level laboratory requiring him/her to have a solid scientific background. He/she must have experience in magnetic resonance (NMR, EPR or muSR in condensed matter) and/or experience in experimental physics in the field of materials with strong electronic correlations. Finally, a fluent practice of written and spoken English is essential.
The Laboratoire National des Champs Magnétiques Intenses is a CNRS large scale research infrastructure allowing researchers to carry out experiments in some of the most intense magnetic fields in the world. Continuous fields up to 36 T are available on the Grenoble site.
The candidate will work in a research group comprising 4 permanent members and PhD students and/or interns.
The candidate will have access to different NMR spectrometers, 4 superconducting coils (allowing fields up to 20 T), equipped with VTI He4 or a dilution refrigerator.

Constraints and risks
Experiments on resistive magnets (typically 1 to 2 weeks/year) can be carried out at staggered times (early morning / late evening) and on weekends.
Individuals with pacemakers or medical implants who have contraindications to magnetic fields, are not permitted to work in this position due to health risks from the presence of strong magnetic fields.
Position to be filled as of November 1, 2022, for 1 year renewable once.
