Job Description

Missions

The mission is to design and develop a functional thermal battery using naturally abundant elements, and to validate its operating process using the characterization facilities of the CEMHTI, in collaboration with the company ASB.

Activity

Develop prototypes of thermal batteries (mixing reactive powders, pelletizing, assembly)
Conduct high-temperature discharge tests
Characterize operating mechanisms or failure causes using CEMHTI's analytical tools (XRD, SEM, Raman, NMR, TEM, etc.)
Propose improvements or new formulations

Your Profil

Skills

* Skills in materials characterization (XRD, Raman spectroscopy, NMR, electron microscopies, etc.)
* Basic electrochemistry
* High-temperature chemistry
* Scientific curiosity
* Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams
* Organizational skills and ability to manage projects independently
* Effective communication skills

Your Work Environment

As part of the FEDER-STEP European funding program between CEMHTI and the company ASB, this project aims to develop thermal batteries using more abundant and locally produced materials. ASB is a world leader in thermal batteries, with applications in the aerospace and defense sectors. CEMHTI has extensive experience in the characterization of materials at high temperatures.

Constraints and risks

Handling of air-sensitive and reactive compounds (work in a glovebox)
Handling of irritant or toxic compounds (work under a fume hood, personal protective equipment)
Use of lasers for heating or characterization
