Missions

CEMHTI is a research unit (UPR 3079) attached to the Institute of Chemistry (INC), spread over two nearby sites (High Temperature and Cyclotron) and employing around 110 people. The CEMHTI develops expertise and original tools at the national and international level to study, in particular, the physicochemical properties of materials under extreme conditions in situ.
At CEMHTI (UPR 3079), the NaFMAT “Nano and Functional Materials: from synthesis to applications” team is recruiting an engineer in the field of porous materials and photocatalytic applications for hydrogen production. The engineer will work under the supervision of a research director (Dr. Conchi ANIA) who is the scientific lead for the CLYOSPHERE project funded by the Clean Energy Transition Partnership, an initiative co-financed by the European Union that aims to promote clean energy transition. CLYOSPHERE is an international partnership project between France, Italy, and Spain.

The aim of this project is to produce clean hydrogen from the photothermal conversion of biomass-derived compounds, using sunlight and integrating new photoactive catalysts into an innovative photoreactor based on a parabolic concentrator configuration of solar compounds.

Activités

The candidate is expected:

- To synthesize metal oxide semiconductors, porous carbonaceous materials, and their coupling.
- To carry out the physicochemical and textural characterization of the samples (gas asdorption, Raman, XPS, FTIR, XPS), before and after the catalytic reactions.
- To carry out the photo(thermo)chemical characterization of materials coupling with illumination sources.
-To develop and validate an experimental protocol to evaluate photo(thermo)catalytic activity in static and dynamic reactors.
- Conducting photo(thermo)reforming experiments on aqueous mixtures with gas and liquid chromatography monitoring.
- To be able to participate in the writing of scientific publications, reports and other technical documents.
- To work in collaboration with team members and collaborators, exchanging and sharing knowledge.
-To process and interpret data.
- To participate in the presentation and promotion of the results obtained.
- to write reports, technical documents, and scientific publications.

Compétences

The candidate should have:
A degree in chemistry or chemical engineering (Bac+3).
A master (Bac+5) in Chemistry, electrochemistry, photochemistry, Materials Science or other related areas will be appreciated
knowledge in (photo)catalysis and porous materials;
knowledge in carbon-based materials, and material's characterization techniques will be greatly appreciated.
Excellent communication skills in English are mandatory to communicate with the partners of the project (knowledge on other language will be appreciated).
Show aptitudes for the development of experimental procedures and devices ;
Show apptitudes of team work and good communication skills ;
capacity to use software tools necessary for data treatment and equipment's use ;
capacity to participate in the writing of scientific publications, reports and other technical documents (English mostly) ;
capacity to generate independent work autonomously, to interpret data and duly comply with duties ;
knowledge and capacity to apply and follow security practices at work.
Excellent communication skills in English (knowledge on French, Spanish or Italian will be strongly appreciated).
Participate in the dissemination and communication activities (workshops, conferences, publications) with peers of the research topic and members of the team and other members of the group.

Contexte de travail

Centre Conditions Extremes Materiaux: Haute Temperature et Irradiation (CEMHTI-CNRS) is an intramural research unit (UPR3079) of CNRS, ascribed to the Institute of Chemistry and in partnership with University of Orléans, with about 100 people. Current research interests encompass research on advanced nanostructured materials applied in fields strongly linked to current major societal challenges such as energy storage and conversion, environment (water treatment, gas storage and separation), sustainable development, and health.

The recruited candidate will be attached to NaFMAT group in CEMHTI working with the scientific responsible of project CLYOSPHERE.
CLYOSPHERE is an international partnership project between France, Italy, and Spain. The activities associated with this position will require travel to the project's partner laboratory(ies) (Italy, Spain).
