At the CNRS-CEMTHI laboratory in Orléans, the "Materials and resonance" team is hiring a post-doctoral researcher to explore the possibilities offered for the first time by the combination of the highest rotation rates recently available (110 kHz) with a very low magnetic field (4.7 T, 200 MHz) in Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) of paramagnetic materials (containing at least one single electron). This unique combination will allow NMR characterization of structural 1H protons and 19F fluors in paramagnetic materials used for electrochemical energy storage.
-1H and 19F MAS-NMR measurements
-development of methodology for quantification
-processing and analysis of results
-production of samples by charging and discharging batteries
-synthesis of reference compounds (secondary)
-written reports and articles
-dissemination of results by publications and participation to conferences
-experience in solid-state NMR
-organize and analyze data from experiments
-team work and autonomy
-initiate, plan, implement and deliver research results within defined timeframes
-presentation of research results through oral and written supports
-experience in electrochemistry of lithium-ion batteries would be appreciated
The CEMHTI laboratory is a CNRS unit with around 100 persons on two buildings (high temperature and cyclotron). The laboratory develops expertise and original tools at the national and international level to study the physico-chemical properties of materials in extreme conditions.
The post-doctoral researcher will join the "materials and resonance" team and will interact more particularly with researchers, engineers and students interested in the problem of electrochemical energy storage (lithium-ion batteries, post-lithium-ion and supercapacitors). The experiments will mainly use two Bruker Avance III spectrometers equipped for very high speed MAS (200 MHz and 850 MHz). The postdoctoral fellow will also have access to the other spectrometers of the laboratory (750MHz, 300 MHz and two 400 MHz).
The laboratory is also a member of the RS2E network (http://www.energie-rs2e.com/fr) which brings together academic research laboratories and industrials in the field of electrochemical energy storage and of the national High-field NMR research infrastructure (https://www.ir-rmn.fr). The project includes collaboration with partners in these networks.
Constraints and risks
This position will require some business travel.
