Work Context

At the CNRS at the ICARE laboratory UPR3021, located on the CNRS campus in Orléans, the candidate will join the RA team. Gaseous ammonia (NH3) plays a key role in atmospheric chemical processes and, after deposition, in biogeochemical processes that occur in sensitive ecosystems (forests, soils and waters). It is a major component of total reactive nitrogen and the most abundant alkaline gas in the atmosphere. Substances resulting from the chemical transformations of ammonia are involved in both the acidification and eutrophication of environments and in the degradation of air quality. This project therefore aims to better understand the impact of this compound in the atmosphere, by improving its direct measurement in the atmosphere, by studying its fate in the atmosphere through the kinetic and mechanistic study of its degradation products.

ICARE is a Clean Unit of the CNRS attached to the Engineering department whose main research themes are Combustion and Reactive Systems, Atmosphere and Environment as well as Space Propulsion and Atmospheric Inputs. The laboratory is composed of 8 researchers, 15 teacher-researchers, 15ITA and about thirty doctoral students and postdocs. The laboratory is composed of a group of 3 buildings located on the CNRS campus in Orléans-la-Source.
