Work Context

At the CNRS ICARE UPR3021 laboratory, located on the CNRS campus in Orléans, the candidate will join the RA team. Ammonia gas (NH3) plays a key role in atmospheric chemical processes and, after deposition, in biogeochemical processes that occur in sensitive ecosystems (forests, soils and waters). It is a major component of total reactive nitrogen and the most abundant alkaline gas in the atmosphere. The substances resulting from the chemical transformations of ammonia are involved in both the acidification and eutrophication of environments and in the degradation of air quality. This project therefore aims to better understand the impact of this compound in the atmosphere by (1) improving its direct measurement in the atmosphere and (2) studying its fate in the atmosphere through kinetic and mechanistic studies of its degradation products.
ICARE is a CNRS research unit attached to the Engineering Department, whose main research themes are Combustion and Reactive Systems, the Atmosphere and the Environment, and Space Propulsion and Atmospheric Re-entry. The laboratory is composed of 8 researchers, 15 teacher-researchers, 15 ITA staff and around 30 doctoral and postdoctoral students. The laboratory consists of a group of 3 buildings located on the CNRS campus in Orléans-la-Source.
