Job Description
Missions
The Quanteca team at Institut Néel is looking for a highly motivated Postdoctoral researcher in superconducting circuits.
You will become part of our young team working on fluxonium circuits and protected qubits. We have significant experience in the development and operation of superconducting qubits. You will be working closely with PhD students and other postdoctoral researchers and will be able to benefit from the expertise developed there and contribute to its progress.
Activity
You will become part of our young team working on fluxonium circuits and protected qubits. We have significant experience in the development and operation of superconducting qubits. You will be working closely with PhD students and other postdoctoral researchers and will be able to benefit from the expertise developed there and contribute to its progress. As an initial task, you will perform collaborative research toward realizing new control schemes for fluxonium circuits. You will get to contribute to diverse aspects of the experimental effort, both technical (drawing and fabrication of electrical circuits) and conceptual (designing experiments, and planning of future research strategies). In the lab, you will pursue the development of high-impedance and/or protected superconducting qubits and their scaling to implement initial quantum error correction experiments.
Your Profil
Skills
*You have a strong interest in experimental realizations of superconducting circuit systems.
*You are dedicated to pursuing a successful career in research, technological development, or education, either in academia or industry.
*You have experience and a proven record in one or more of the following:
• quantum information processing and its implementations (e.g., with superconducting circuits)
• micro and nano-electronic devices and their fabrication (lithography and deposition techniques)
• mesoscopic solid-state physics
• low-temperature physics
• microwave electronics
• Instrumentation, drivers, and software development.
Your Work Environment
You will have access to world-class facilities including a clean room equipped with a 100 keV e-beam writer and dedicated e-beam evaporator, multiple dilution fridges with ultrafast control electronics, and TWPA read-out lines, as well as cryogenics engineers. Our team is large and diverse, providing the necessary resources to undertake ambitious projects. You would begin working directly with at least one student, enabling your project to make meaningful progress.
Institut NÉEL is a CNRS unit (UPR 2940) under agreement with the University Grenoble Alpes. The laboratory is related to the CNRS Physique. It is located in Grenoble, in the heart of a unique scientific, industrial and cultural environment. It is one of the largest French national research institutes for fundamental research in condensed matter physics enriched by interdisciplinary activities at the interfaces with chemistry, engineering and biology. It consists of 450 employees, including 175 researchers.
CNRS is a public, scientific and technological organization.
The core mandate is to identify, to carry out or to have carried out, either alone or with partners, all research that advances science or contributes to the country's economic, social, and cultural progress. Internationally recognized for the excellence of its scientific research, the CNRS is a reference in the world of research and development, as well as for the general public.
The hosting team at Institut Néel is QuantECA Quantum Electronic Circuits Alps, which forms part of the QUEST department.
