Job Description

Missions

The objective of this postdoctoral project is to exploit and extend these cryo-electronic platforms to demonstrate coherent charge and spin control in silicon quantum dot arrays. In particular, the project will focus on the implementation of coherent electron shuttling protocols across extended qubit arrays, leveraging multiplexed cryogenic control and readout electronics.
This work is part of a close collaboration with CEA-Leti, combining state-of-the-art device fabrication, cryogenic control electronics, and quantum dot-based quantum information processing.

Activity

The successful candidate will:
• Operate and characterize bilinear arrays of semiconductor quantum dot qubits in dilution refrigerators.
• Implement and optimize multiplexed cryogenic control and readout schemes developed within the PEPR PREQUILE program.
• Interface cryogenic control electronics with quantum device operation, including waveform generation, timing synchronization, and signal routing.
• Develop experimental protocols to characterize the impact of the cryoelectronic on the quantum dot arrays.
• Investigate charge and spin coherence during transport and transfer operations in extended quantum dot systems.
• Analyze experimental data using tools for time-domain control, charge sensing, and coherence characterization.
• Participate in the co-development of next-generation cryogenic electronics in collaboration with CEA-Leti researchers (Baptiste Jadot).

Your Profil

Skills

Applicants should hold a PhD in experimental quantum physics, quantum electronics, nanoelectronics, or a related field.

A strong background in electronic instrumentation is essential. Desirable skills include:
• Solid experience in electronic measurement systems and instrumentation.
• Familiarity with RF/microwave techniques and fast signal generation.
• Experience with cryogenic setups (dilution refrigerators is a strong plus).
• Knowledge of semiconductor quantum dots or solid-state qubits.
• Programming skills for experimental control and automation (Python preferred).
• Ability to interface experimental physics with electronic hardware systems.

Your Work Environment

Within the framework of the French PEPR PREQUILE program, advanced cryogenic control electronics have been developed at CEA-Leti to enable multiplexed operation and readout of semiconductor quantum devices. These technologies provide a new pathway toward scalable control architectures for large-scale quantum processors.

The hosting team at Institut Néel is QuantECA (Quantum Electronic Circuits Alps), which form part of the QUEST department.

Institut NÉEL is a CNRS unit (UPR 2940) under agreement with the University Grenoble Alpes. The laboratory is related to the CNRS Physique. It is located in Grenoble, in the heart of a unique scientific, industrial and cultural environment. It is one of the largest French national research institutes for fundamental research in condensed matter physics enriched by interdisciplinary activities at the interfaces with chemistry, engineering and biology. It consists of 450 employees, including 175 researchers.
CNRS is a public, scientific and technological organization.
The core mandate is to identify, to carry out or to have carried out, either alone or with partners, all research that advances science or contributes to the country's economic, social, and cultural progress. Internationally recognized for the excellence of its scientific research, the CNRS is a reference in the world of research and development, as well as for the general public.
