Missions
The agent will participate in the development of a device for the conversion and entanglement of microwave/optical fields.
Activités
This project aims at developing a microwave-optical quantum interface to be used as a key element in future quantum technologies. Such an interface will for example permit long-distance transfer of microwave quantum information, which is not possible without conversion in the optical domain. The realization of this project will make possible the optically-mediated entanglement of distant microwave qubits (superconducting qubits or spin qubits). This will support the scalability and the connectivity of quantum-computing architectures by opening an interface between microwave qubits and silicon photonics.
The main tasks of the agent will be to design, fabricate (clean room work) and characterize electro-opto-mechanical devices at cryogenic temperatures (tens of mK). The devices will be hybrid, composed of silicon substrates but also superconducting and piezoelectric materials. The agent will also be in charge of developing an experimental bench to carry out these measurements, in particular the optical part.
Compétences
The agent must hold PhD thesis in physics on a topic relevant to the mission. Experience in one of the following field would be an asset: nanofabrication, superconducting circuits, opto-mechanics.
Contexte de travail
The agent will be located at Institut Néel. It will be co-supervised by two permanent researchers. The Institut NEEL is one of the largest French national research institutes for fundamental research in condensed matter physics enriched by interdisciplinary activities at the interfaces with chemistry, engineering and biology. It is located in the heart of a unique scientific, industrial and cultural environment. It is part of one of Europe's biggest high-tech environment in micro- and nanoelectronics, right next to the French Alpes.
The Institut NEEL is a CNRS laboratory. CNRS is a public, scientific and technological organisation.
The core mandate is to identify, carry out ou have carried out, either alone or with partners, all research that advances science or contributes to the country's economic, social, and cultural progress. Internationally recognised for the excellence of its scientific research, the CNRS is a reference in the world of research and development, as well as for the general public.
Le poste se situe dans un secteur relevant de la protection du potentiel scientifique et technique (PPST), et nécessite donc, conformément à la réglementation, que votre arrivée soit autorisée par l'autorité compétente du MESR.
