Missions
The superconducting quantum circuits group at the Institut Néel in Grenoble is offering a postdoctoral position. In recent years, our team has specialised in high kinetic inductance superconducting quantum circuits operating at milliKelvin temperatures with applications ranging from novel superconducting qubits to state-of-the-art quantum limited amplifiers. Your main task will be to build devices such as non-reciprocal amplifiers operating close to the quantum limit, taking advantage of our expertise in Traveling Wave Parametric Amplifiers (TWPAs).
This position is funded as part of the Q-LOOP project. The aim of this project is to explore scaling solutions for solid-state qubtis.
Activités
Our team specialises in the control and coherent manipulation of superconducting quantum circuits. You will benefit from a dedicated, state-of-the-art measurement bench combining very low temperatures (around 10 mK), fast electronics and microwave detection chains at the quantum limit. The samples are fabricated in the Institut Neel's clean room (Nanofab), offering state-of-the-art equipment (100 keV electron beam etcher, dedicated Plassys evaporator, ALD and PE-CVD machines, etc.).
Compétences
PhD with solid experience in quantum physics. Solid experience in at least one of the following areas is required: nanofabrication, microwave and digital electronics, advanced cryogenic equipment (dilution refrigerators), quantum circuit theory.
Contexte de travail
The Institut NEEL, UPR 2940 CNRS, is one of the largest French national research institutes for fundamental research in condensed matter physics enriched by interdisciplinary activities at the interfaces with chemistry, engineering and biology. The laboratory is related to the CNRS Physique. It is located in the heart of a unique scientific, industrial and cultural environment. It is part of one of Europe's biggest high-tech environment in micro- and nanoelectronics, right next to the French Alpes.
In the Institut Néel, the QuantECA team is specialized in the experimental study of quantum electronic devices, from fundamental studies to applications of quantum technologies.
The Institut NEEL is a CNRS laboratory. CNRS is a public, scientific and technological organisation.
The core mandate is to identify, carry out ou have carried out, either alone or with partners, all research that advances science or contributes to the country's economic, social, and cultural progress. Internationally recognised for the excellence of its scientific research, the CNRS is a reference in the world of research and development, as well as for the general public.
Le poste se situe dans un secteur relevant de la protection du potentiel scientifique et technique (PPST), et nécessite donc, conformément à la réglementation, que votre arrivée soit autorisée par l'autorité compétente du MESR.
