Missions

A post-doctoral funding is available to work on the theory and modeling of quantum thermodynamic effects in optomechanical devices.

Activities

The research will be conducted in the context of the ANR project "Qu-DOT". The theoretical objective of the project is to study the laws of thermodynamics in hybrid opto-mechanical devices where an artificial atom is coupled to an electromagnetic bath on the one hand, and to a mechanical resonator on the other hand. We will study the potential of these devices to realize quantum thermal machines and to measure quantum fluctuations theorems.

Work Context

Partner Néel has developed expertise in the theoretical aspects of quantum thermodynamics, quantum open systems and the foundations of quantum mechanics, in close collaboration with a vast network of experimental partners. In this spirit, the work will be theoretical and closely linked to the experimental groups of the consortium: the candidate will contribute to the definition and the discussion of the experiments as well as to their modeling. In addition, the candidate will benefit from Grenoble's stimulating ecosystem for quantum technologies.
The research will be conducted in the theoretical group of A.Auffèves (Institut Néel, Grenoble), in close collaboration with the experimental groups of N. Arès (Oxford University), Mr. Richard (Néel) and J.P. Poizat (Néel).
