Missions
As part of the ANR STABILORG project, the recruited candidate will be responsible for studying and characterizing mRNA fate in response to abiotic stresses in the model plant Arabidopsis thaliana. They will employ advanced sequencing, molecular biology, and biochemistry techniques to identify cis- and trans-regulatory elements controlling mRNA stability and translation.
Activités
The candidate will carry out molecular biology and biochemistry experiments to characterize mRNA fate. They will be specifically responsible for developing ribosome profiling experiments to study mRNA translation efficiency in response to abiotic stress in Arabidopsis thaliana. Once the method is optimized, the candidate will apply this approach under various experimental conditions and contribute to sequencing efforts. With the support of a bioinformatics engineer, they will analyze the resulting data. The position will also involve processing, analyzing, and interpreting global mRNA stability data that are currently being generated. The candidate will regularly interact with lab members and may participate in the supervision of interns or PhD students. Depending on their skills, they may also contribute to additional team projects involving protein and RNA biochemistry.
Compétences
The candidate should have a strong background in molecular biology, biochemistry, and large-scale data analysis. Specific expertise in RNA biology and a solid understanding of mRNA metabolism will be highly valued. The candidate must be able to analyze and interpret NGS data. The position requires a high level of experimental rigor, strong organizational skills, the ability to solve technical problems, and the capacity to work effectively within a team. A good command of scientific English (C1 level), both written and spoken, is required to communicate and disseminate results.
Contexte de travail
The position is hosted at the Plant Molecular Biology Institute of Strasbourg (IBMP UPR2357), internationally recognized for its research in plant molecular biology. The candidate will join the mRNA Dynamics in Plants team, which specializes in mRNA biology. The work will be supported by state-of-the-art facilities for microscopy, sequencing, and proteomics. The laboratory is located on the University of Strasbourg campus, is easily accessible by public transport, and offers university dining facilities. The employment contract is initially for 12 months, with the possibility of renewal for an additional 12 months.
Contraintes et risques
The position does not involve any particular constraints. Standard risks associated with handling chemicals should be expected.
