Missions
The research engineer will be part of the “Cellular functions of ubiquitin-dependent proteolysis” team and will be in charge of the study on the regulation of RNA silencing during heat stress in Arabidopsis. The candidate will measure the activity of RNA silencing in response to thermal stress, characterize during stress the composition of siRNA bodies (containing SGS3, AGO1, RDR6 etc.), characterize at the functional level new components of siRNA bodies and will study the influence of heat stress on viral infection. The study will include phenotyping of mutants under stress conditions, biochemical purification of siRNA protein complexes, sequencing of RNAs associated with siRNA bodies and viral infections of Arabidopsis plants.
Activités
- Functional study and crossing of Arabidopsis mutants in the “RNA silencing” pathway
- Purification of siRNA bodies during stress, characterization of its proteins and associated small RNAs
- NGS analyzes
- Analysis of the subcellular localization of siRNA body components under stress conditions
- Viral infection by RNA viruses of Arabidopsis plants
Compétences
The post-doctoral fellow must have a good training in plant molecular biology, biochemistry or cell biology. Other essential criteria for this position are strong motivation, autonomy, thinking and problem-solving skills, excellent communication skills in English and a strong work ethic. Previous experience in RNA biology and plant genetics and/or virology will be a plus. Fluency in reading, writing and speaking English, level B2 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages will be required.
Contexte de travail
The research work will be carried out at the Institute of Molecular Biology of Plants (IBMP) in Strasbourg. The candidate will have the opportunity to interact with another team involved in the project located at INRA Versailles (France).
Contraintes et risques
Usual constraints and risks of a plant molecular biology project. No external mobility is planned.
