Missions
The Research Engineer (M/F) will work on a project funded within the framework of a Labex MitoCross chair. The project focuses on the characterization of chloroplastic and mitochondrial ribonuclease (RNase) mutants in the plant Arabidopsis thaliana in order to understand the role of these enzymes in organelle RNA quality control. The recruited person will carry out standard molecular biology and RNA biochemistry techniques, as well as high-throughput sequencing approaches based on Illumina and Nanopore technologies, to achieve the project objectives.
Activités
• Implement techniques and analytical methods in molecular biology and RNA biochemistry (including cloning and plant transgenesis, northern blot, qRT-PCR, electrophoretic mobility shift assays) and in cell biology (protein fusion with GFP and confocal microscopy).
• Develop and adapt protocols for constructing high-throughput sequencing libraries for Illumina and Nanopore platforms.
• Analyze, process, validate, and interpret results.
• Disseminate and promote research findings.
• Transfer skills and knowledge to team members.
Compétences
• PhD required
• Skills in molecular biology and biochemistry (analysis of DNA, RNA, and proteins)
• Skills in plant biology (cultivation of Arabidopsis and plant transgenesis)
• Skills in bioinformatics and statistical analysis of high-throughput sequencing data
• Ability to communicate in French (C1 level) or English (C1 level): strong written and oral communication skills
Contexte de travail
The Research Engineer (M/F) will join the “Organelle RNA Quality Control” team at the Institute of Plant Molecular Biology (IBMP) of the CNRS in Strasbourg. The IBMP has a long recognized expertise in molecular and cellular biology, genetics, and biochemistry, and offers several technological platforms (genetic analysis, proteomics, imaging, plant cultivation, etc.). The Institute is located on the central campus of the University of Strasbourg, just a 10-minute walk from the city center, and is easily accessible by public transport.
