Post-doctoral fellowship for 13 months, starting in February 2022, ANR funding. The person recruited will participate in a research program for the development of new antimicrobials. He or she will be integrated into a collaborative research program between two ICSN departments:
- Department of Organic Synthesis and Catalytic Methods: for the synthetic preparation of molecular probes
- Department of Natural Substances and Medicinal Chemistry: for measurement of antimicrobial activities and the research of the biological target.
The aim of this interdisciplinary project, conducted by the two partners, is twofold. Firstly, the person recruited will be in charge of preparing molecular probes incorporating the pharmacophore, a photoaffinity labelling moiety and a reporter tag. This synthetic work will be able to rely on synthetic methodologies previously developed, allowing quick and efficient access to the targeted compounds. Secondly, pull down assays experiments, involving these chemical biology tools, will be handled in order to identify the molecular target.
This project requires multidisciplinary expertises. The candidate should have background in organic synthesis, characterization methods (NMR, GC, MS, HPLC, etc) and in chemical biology. He/she will in charge of pull down. Expertise in cellular experiments will be appreciated. The expected qualities of the candidate are a high motivation for research, independency in research work, good organization and strong enthusiasm of working as part of a multi-disciplinary project.
This collaborative project will be carried out between two research teams in the same Institute. The Institute of Chemistry of Natural Substances (ICSN) is a research unit of the CNRS (UPR2301) which has been internationally recognized in organic chemistry and medicinal chemistry for several decades. The ICSN develops activities ranging from the discovery of new natural substances, to the research of their mechanisms of action, through the synthesis of these molecules and the development of new methodologies in organic synthesis.
